Professor Wade is the Matthew Flinders Distinguished Professor of Psychology at Flinders University in Adelaide. She has worked clinically in the area of eating disorders for over 30 years and has been working full time as an academic since 1999. Her current research interests are in the aetiology, prevention and treatment of eating disorders, with a focus on implementing this research into real world settings to improve outcomes in body image and eating disorders. She has cowritten 3 therapy books and has over 200 publications in peer reviewed journals. Tracey is on the Management Committee responsible for the oversight and development of the Statewide Eating Disorders Service in South Australia and is a member of the federally funded Steering Committee of the National Eating Disorder Collaboration.

In 2015 Tracey was elected a Fellow of the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia, and in 2017 – 2018 she was president of Eating Disorder research Society. Professor Wade is an Associate Editor of the International Journal of Eating Disorders. She is Director of the Flinders University Services for Eating Disorders (FUSED).
