Carmel is a Clinical Psychologist with 9 years experience in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT-E) primarily within a private practice setting, and currently works for BodyMatters. She holds a Clinical PhD from the Australian National University and has published a range of academic articles with an eating and body image focus. She is experienced in and passionate about supervision of new clinicians, and clinicians new to the field of eating disorders. Her supervision style seeks to ‘lend’ you her clinical expertise through actively modelling skills and providing resources and further reading, while encouraging self-reflection on cases.
While trained in a range of therapy approaches, including Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Maudsley Model for Anorexia Nervosa Treatment for Adults (MANTRA), Motivational Interviewing, Family Based Therapy (Maudsley Model), Schema Therapy, EMDR, Compassion Focused Strategies, and Mindfulness based intervention, she primarily operates from a CBT-E framework in her clinical work.
