Shelly is a registered Clinical Psychologist and has been working with children, adolescents, adults and families since 2000. She has worked within various mental health settings in Canberra, London and the Gold Coast as a clinician, mentor and a manager. Shelly’s work in Child & Youth Mental Health, Adult Mental Health and a Mental Health Crisis & Assessment Treatment Team has seen her work with a wide variety of presentations across the lifespan.
Shelly has specialist training in the field of eating disorders in several treatment modalities. She previously worked across two different Eating Disorders Programs; providing assessment and treatment to children, adolescents, adults and families in inpatient, outpatient and day program settings. Shelly has been in private practice for the past 10 years and utilises Maudsley Family Based Treatment (FBT), Enhanced Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy for eating disorder presentations. Shelly has published in the areas of mental health recovery and Maudsley Family Based Treatment for adolescent anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa. She has run training in the field of eating disorders and has been supervising clinician’s and managers in the field for many years.
Shelly’s supervision approach is collaborative, warm and supportive; she values a non-judgemental and compassionate stance and encourages supervisees to challenge their assumptions. Shelly is passionate about supervision and helping clinicians further develop their skills, confidence and ability to support clients on their treatment journey.
